E is for Eternity

They looked across the desk at each other, barely making eye contact.
“Well,” their matcher commented, “good luck, and I hope you two have an excellent life.”  With those words of encouragement, a marriage certificate, and a $50 dollar gift certificate to the best restaurant in town, they left.
On the street, their union felt forced.  They held hands like middle school students do.
He looked at her.  “I would have never picked someone like you to marry.”
She giggled.  “Me either.  You’re not my type.”
He laughed too and that was the start of a 52 year marriage.

  8. I liked that! Made me smile. Marriage is not always about "feeling" of love, but commitment.
